North Tonawanda Football Program and Box of Hope Urge Community Support for 6th Annual Back-to-School Food Drive

NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. – The North Tonawanda Football Program is partnering with local non-profit Box of Hope to host its 6th annual Back-to-School Food Drive, inviting the community to support underserved families as they prepare for the new academic year. The drive runs from August 12-14, nightly from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, at Market in the Square at Budwey’s Plaza.

This collaborative effort aims to collect non-perishable food items to create “Box of Hope Food Kits,” which will be distributed alongside essential school supplies to families in need on August 20th. This year's ambitious goal is to assemble 60 complete food kits.

Community participation is made convenient and straightforward. During the designated hours, North Tonawanda student-athletes will be on hand to provide shoppers with a quick list of needed non-perishable items. Community members are encouraged to purchase a few extra items while shopping and drop them off with the student volunteers on their way out. These donations will directly contribute to filling the crucial food kits for local families.

“Leadership isn’t just about what happens on the field — it’s about showing up for your community when it matters most,” said Pastor Chad Rieselman, North Tonawanda Modified Football Coach, highlighting the program’s commitment to fostering well-rounded individuals.

Head of Program Coach Tideswell reinforced this sentiment, adding, “Serving others is the best reminder of how to win on the field — by looking out for the guy next to you and helping those in our own backyard. It builds character and strengthens the bonds within our community.”

The North Tonawanda Football Program and Box of Hope encourage all residents to stop by Market in the Square during the designated hours, make a donation, and help make a tangible difference in the lives of local families, ensuring students start the school year with dignity, confidence, and hope.
